Celebrate (and survive?) Stonehearth’s first official seasonal holiday! The Candledark mod adds a new craftable pattern for the Carpenter, and a tiny themed adventure for your town.

Installation Instructions

Here are the instructions for installing the Candledark mod, depending on how you’ve installed the game.

If you’ve installed Stonehearth using the Windows installer or .zip file

  1. Download the new Stonehearth release-150 from your Humble Bundle page and install it. When you start the game, it should say “Stonehearth 0.1.0 (release 150)” in the lower left of the title screen.
  2. Download candledark.smod here.
  3. Put candledark.smod in the “mods” sub-folder of your Stonehearth installation folder. By default the installer puts Stonehearth in C:\Program Files (x86)\Stonehearth
  4. You should now see radiant.smod, stonehearth.smod, and candledark.smod all in the same folder
  5. Restart Stonehearth

If you’ve installed Stonehearth using Steam

  1. Make sure Steam has updated your game to release-150. When you start the game, it should say “Stonehearth 0.1.0 (release 150)” in the lower left of the title screen. Candledark will not work on the Steam latest branch release. If you’re on the latest branch, go back to the main branch by selecting “NONE – Opt out of beta programs” from the Betas tab on the Stonehearth Properties dialog.
  2. Download candledark.smod here.
  3. Right click Stonehearth in your Steam library. Click “Properties”
  4. Click the “Local Files” tab, then click the “Browse Local Files…” button
  5. Go to the “mods” folder and put candledark.smod there
  6. You should now see radiant.smod, stonehearth.smod, and candledark.smod all in the same folder
  7. Restart Stonehearth

If you’ve installed everything correctly, your Carpenter will have a new “Pumpkin Ward” recipe.

Includes fully commented source code

Modders, we’re shipping Candledark as full, un-minified, and commented source code! To view the code, just rename candledark.smod to candledark.zip, then extract and delete the zip file. The mod will still continue to work as a “candledark” folder inside your mods folder.

Happy Candledark!
